Eminent lawyer Abdul G Noorani passes away

Renowned lawyer, scholar and political commentator, Abdul Ghafoor Majeed Noorani, passed away in Mumbai on Thursday.

He was 93.

Born in 1930, Noorani practiced in both the Supreme Court and the Bombay High Court.

He was a reputed name in the Indian legal and political circles, respected for his knowledge in Constitutional law.

He was also an expert on issues related to Kashmir & Article 370, and had authored books on the subject.

His notable works include The Kashmir Question, The Presidential System, The Trial of Bhagat Singh, Constitutional Questions in India, the RSS and the BJP: A Division of Labour, and Article 370: A Constitutional History of Jammu and Kashmir.

Noorani also wrote biographies of important personalities like as Badruddin Tyabji and Dr Zakir Husain.
