National Green Tribunal directs UPPCB to look into allegations against Agra hospital

21/10/2024BlogNo Comments

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to examine allegations against FH Medical College and Hospital in Agra.

The college, established in 2014, has 650 beds and is equipped with all the major facilities such as ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU, Operation theatres etc., but allegedly operates without environmental clearance (EC) and consent to establish and operate (CTE/CTO).

The applicant, Abhinay Kumar Rai, claimed that the college’s construction falls under the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006.

Despite sending a legal notice to the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and UPPCB, no action was taken.

The Principal Bench of Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and Expert Member Dr. A. Senthil Vel disposed of the original application, directing the UPPCB’s Member Secretary to consider the applicant’s grievances within three months.

The UPPCB must examine the issue and make an informed decision in accordance with the law.
