Chhattisgarh High Court dismisses PIL over land dispute in Balod district

24/10/2024BlogNo Comments

The Chhattisgarh High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed regarding a land dispute in Balod district.

The petitioner sought to quash an order dated December 22, 2020, issued by the Collector, and directed authorities to allocate alternative land for a college instead of destroying grazing land and jungle.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Bibhu Datta Guru noted that this was the third round of litigation on the same issue, with two previous PILs being dismissed.

The petitioner had approached the Board of Revenue after the previous dismissals but failed to challenge the Board’s order dated March 12, 2024.

The High Court dismissed the PIL, citing the petitioner’s failure to avail remedy before the appropriate forum.

The court imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the petitioner, payable to the Children Observation Home, Bilaspur, within one week.
