The Central government on Tuesday gave approval to the appointment of five judicial officers as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court.

The information was shared by Union Law Minister of State (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal on social media.

The judicial officers who have been appointed include KV Jayakumar; Muralee Krishna S; Jobin Sebastian; PV Balakrishnan; and PP Krishna Kumar.

The names of all five Advocates were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment as Additional Judges through a resolution on October 15.

The Apex Court had earlier also recommended the name of PP Krishna Kumar in October last year for appointment as Additional Judge, which was yet to be cleared by the Central government.

The Collegium reiterated his name by way of the October 15 resolution, which also recommended names of four other lawyers.

As on October 15, the Kerala High Court is functioning with 40 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 47.
