Gauhati HC issues notice on PIL alleging misappropriation of funds for drugs laboratory

The Gauhati High Court’s Itanagar Bench has issued notices to respondents in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Gollo Tuki, spokesperson of the All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU). 

The PIL alleges misappropriation of Rs 14 crore meant for establishing a State Drugs Regulatory Mechanism and Drugs Testing Laboratory in Arunachal Pradesh.

Tuki’s petition accuses respondent authorities, including government officials and private entities, of embezzling funds allocated for healthcare infrastructure development.

The bench of Justice Mitali Thakuria and Justice Budi Habung directed that:

1. Notices be issued to respondents, returnable within four weeks.

2. Private respondent No. 15 to be served notice via registered post and usual process within three days.

3. Petitioner to provide extra copies of petition and annexures to respondents.
