Calcutta High Court permits BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari to visit Murshidabad

23/04/2025BlogNo Comments

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday gave permission to West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari to visit Murshidabad, which recently witnessed violence during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.

The Division Bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Raja Basu Chowdhury further permitted the local BJP MLA to visit the affected areas after informing the jurisdictional Superintendent of Police (SP).

The High Court, however, cautioned them not to organise rallies or processions, and also refrain from making any speech that may affect the peace in the area.

The directions were passed on a petition filed by Adhikari seeking directions to allow him to visit the riot-affected area.
