Land-for-jobs scam case: Delhi court to hear arguments on framing of charges against Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav on August 4

A Delhi court will hear on August 4, the arguments over framing of charges against Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the land-for-jobs scam case.

The order was passed by Special Judge Vishal Gogne of Rouse Avenue Courts on Saturday.

The Senior Counsel appearing for RJD leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today sought adjournment in the matter on the grounds that the Delhi High Court would be taking up the case on August 12.

He submitted that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had investigated this case earlier and filed a closure report in Patna. Citing a Supreme Court ruling, the Senior Counsel asked the trial court to hear arguments on framing of charges after August 12.

The trial court also heard the arguments on behalf of AK Infosystems Private Limited today.

Appearing for AK Infosystems, Senior Advocate Maninder Singh and Advocate Aekta Vats submitted that they were not denying the land purchase deal. Land was purchased by the company in 2007. The accused who sold the land got a job in the Indian Railways in 2008. These transactions, however, were not connected, they added.

Senior Advocate Singh contended that the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) had alleged that AK Infosystems, having assets of Rs 1.77 crore, had only Rs one lakh by the Lalu family. The company had a liability of Rs 1.20 crore.

He argued that the allegations related to land for jobs in different zones were investigated by the CBI earlier also. A complaint was filed by one Lallan in 2008 and CBI filed a closure report in the Patna court. The agency has now filed a fresh case on the same matter, he pointed out.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne listed the matter for Monday.
