Collegium recommends appointment of Justice Arvind Kumar Verma as permanent Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court

17/12/2025BlogNo Comments

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Justice Arvind Kumar Verma of the Chhattisgarh High Court be appointed as a permanent judge. The decision was taken after assessing his performance, judicial conduct, and integrity during his tenure as an additional judge.

Justice Verma was elevated to the Chhattisgarh High Court as an additional judge and has since handled a wide range of cases across civil, criminal, and constitutional jurisdictions. The Collegium noted that his judgments reflect legal clarity, balanced reasoning, and adherence to constitutional principles.

In making the recommendation, the Collegium considered inputs from the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, the Governor of the state, and the Chief Minister, along with reports from intelligence agencies. Finding no adverse material against him, the Collegium concluded that Justice Verma is suitable for confirmation as a permanent judge.

The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice for further processing and eventual approval by the President of India, in accordance with established constitutional procedure.

The move is expected to strengthen the judicial capacity of the Chhattisgarh High Court and ensure continuity in the administration of justice.
