Delhi High Court seeks CBI response to Rabri Devi’s Plea challenging charges in IRCTC Scam Case

16/01/2026BlogNo Comments

The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file its reply to a petition moved by former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, who has challenged the framing of charges against her in the alleged IRCTC corruption case.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma issued notice to the CBI while hearing Rabri Devi’s plea, in which she contended that the trial court had wrongly framed charges without sufficient material to establish her involvement in the case. She argued that the order was based on assumptions and failed to demonstrate any direct role played by her in the alleged offences.

The charges stem from accusations of irregularities in the award of contracts for IRCTC hotel properties at Ranchi and Puri during the tenure of former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rabri Devi has maintained that she was neither associated with the decision-making process nor a beneficiary of the alleged transactions.

The High Court has listed the matter for further hearing along with similar petitions filed by Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, who have also questioned the legality of the charge-framing order.

The Court will examine the submissions of both sides before deciding whether the charges against Rabri Devi warrant interference at this stage.
