A Patna court on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with a criminal case arising out of a firing incident that allegedly took place outside his coaching institute in Patna.
The interim relief was granted while hearing Khan’s anticipatory bail application, which was filed after the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in relation to the incident.
According to submissions made before the court, the trial court has called for the case diary as well as details of Khan’s previous criminal antecedents before taking a final decision on the anticipatory bail plea. The court also clarified that the investigating agency would remain at liberty to question Khan during the course of the investigation.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on June 10.
The case originates from an alleged violent confrontation outside Khan’s coaching institute in the Musallahpur Hat area of Patna. Reports indicate that a dispute involving a rival coaching institute escalated into violence, during which a group of approximately 15 to 20 individuals allegedly gathered outside the premises and assaulted one of the institute’s security guards.
Subsequently, Khan’s personal security personnel were allegedly seen firing shots in the air. Following the incident, the bodyguards were arrested by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
The investigation also led to the arrest of Raushan Anand, who runs a rival coaching institute, along with two other individuals. Their arrests followed allegations made by Khan that they had orchestrated the attack on his coaching institute.
The court’s interim order grants Khan protection from coercive action for the time being while the anticipatory bail proceedings remain pending. The court is expected to consider the case diary, antecedent records and other material placed on record when the matter is taken up for further hearing.
