Centre notifies elevation of 2 Additional Judges as Permanent Judges of Madras High Court

The Union government has notified the appointment of two Additional Judges of the Madras High Court as permanent judges of the same High Court.

On February 5, 2025, the Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and comprising Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant, Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Abhay S Oka as members, recommended the elevation of Justice Venkatachari Lakshminarayanan and Justice Periyasamy Vadamalai.

While Justice Lakshminarayanan was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Madras High Court on February 23, 2023, Justice Vadamalai was appointed as the Additional Judge of the Madras High Court on March 27, 2023.
