A Delhi court on Wednesday summoned former Union Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with his sons Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, in the land for job scam case.
Judge Vishal Gogne of the Rouse Avenue Court directed them to appear before it on October 7.
The judge passed the order on the grounds that Yadav had prima facie been in a position of power to facilitate public employment when he was the Union Railway Minister.
It noted that there was sufficient material to gather use of proceeds of crime.
Besides Lalu and Tejaswi, the Court also summoned Lalu Yadav’s eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav. though he has not yet been named an accused in the case.
The Judge noted that the possibility of Tej Pratap Yadav (being an accused) could not be ruled out.
The case pertained to alleged appointments made in the Railways in exchange for land transferred to Lalu Prasad’s family when he was the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that the appointments made in the Railways were not in consonance with the standards and guidelines established by the Indian Railways for hiring.
Earlier in March last year, the Delhi court had granted bail to Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and daughter Misa Bharti in the case.
