Patna High Court dismisses PIL on Bihar civil court infrastructure

21/01/2025BlogNo Comments

The Patna High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed to highlight the inadequate infrastructure in civil courts across Bihar.

The PIL, filed by Anshuman Singh, specifically mentioned the lack of facilities in civil courts at Danapur, Patna City, Patna Sadar, Barh, Masaurhi, and Paliganj Subdivision.

In response to the PIL, counter-affidavits were filed by the Executive Engineers of the building divisions, stating that regular meetings of the District Level Monitoring Committee and Security Audit Committee were conducted by the District Judge of Patna, and directions issued were complied with.

The Executive Engineer, Patna Building Division, also highlighted the various facilities provided.

The High Court, comprising Chief Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Partha Sarthy, observed that the infrastructure facilities of the civil courts were regularly monitored by a committee of High Court judges.

The court concluded that initiating a public interest litigation was not necessary at this point and dismissed the petition.
