Bombay High Court directs police to investigate fake court orders in Jindal family dispute

23/06/2026BlogNo Comments

The Bombay High Court has directed a police and cyber cell inquiry into allegations that forged or fabricated court orders were circulated in connection with an ongoing family dispute involving members of the Jindal family.

The single-judge Bench of Justice Arif S Doctor passed the direction while hearing an interim application filed by Shylender Jindal, observing that the allegations raised before the Court were extremely serious and grave and warranted an investigation before any further proceedings could take place.

The controversy arose from Jindal’s plea seeking the recall of orders dated January 24, 2025, and February 7, 2025. He contended that the orders had been passed without affording him an opportunity of hearing.

Jindal alleged that one Purvi Shah and his former advocate had forged copies of the Court’s orders and supplied those versions to him instead of the actual judicial orders passed by the Court.

Appearing in person, Shah denied the allegations and, in turn, claimed that the alleged fabrication had been carried out by Jindal. The counsel appearing on her behalf informed the Court that she was willing to face an inquiry into the allegations.

After considering the rival submissions, the Court noted that the primary issue here was the manner in which the disputed orders came into existence and the identity of the person or persons responsible for the same. The Court held that the issue constituted a crucial preliminary question that required investigation before the matter could proceed further.

Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, Justice Doctor directed the Registrar General of the High Court to lodge a complaint with the competent police authorities and the cyber cell for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the creation and circulation of the disputed documents. He further directed the investigating authorities to place an inquiry report on record within four weeks.

The single-judge Bench clarified that the Court had not examined or expressed any opinion on the merits of the allegations made by either side. It further stated that the interim application would be taken up for further consideration only after completion of the inquiry and submission of the investigation report.
