The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a petition that seeks establishment of a board for the protection of Sanatana Dharma/Hindu religion, on the lines of the Waqf Board.
The Bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said the Court could not interfere in the issue since it fell within the domain of policy matters.
However, the High Court granted liberty to the petitioner to approach the government for appropriate action.
Filed by the Sanatan Hindu Sewa Sangh Trust, the petition alleged that the followers of Sanatana Dharma were being attacked by the followers of other religions.
It said there was no religious body for the protection of rights and customs of the Sanatana Dharma.
The petitioner contended that it had earlier filed a representation before the government, which did not yield any response.
