A 30-year-old judicial officer posted at Karkardooma Court and currently serving as the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead at his residence in Green Park on Saturday.
As per reports, a PCR call was received at Safdarjung Enclave Police Station, following which a police team reached the spot and initiated inquest proceedings in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure. Preliminary findings indicated a case of suicide.
Police officials stated that the information was conveyed by the deceased’s brother-in-law, a resident of Defence Colony. Upon arrival, the police found Sharma unresponsive at his residence. The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise cause of death.
As per the initial inquiry, no material evidence suggesting foul play or criminal conspiracy has emerged. However, the investigating agency is examining all possible angles, including circumstantial evidence and electronic records, as part of a comprehensive probe.
Sharma had joined the Delhi Judicial Services in June 2021 after completing his BA LLB from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, in 2018. During his tenure, he presided over a range of civil and criminal matters while exercising jurisdiction as a Judicial Magistrate First Class and a civil judge. He was later appointed as the Secretary of the DLSA at Karkardooma.
He is survived by his spouse, who is also a judicial officer, and two minor children. Statements of family members and other relevant persons are being recorded to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the incident, police said, adding that further investigation was underway.
