Keshav Ranjan, Advocate-on-Record (AOR) of the Supreme Court, has been appointed as Additional Advocate General by the Government of Bihar.
After completing his schooling in Bihar’s Samastipur district, Ranjan pursued his higher education in Delhi and obtained his LL.B. in 2005.
He began his legal career under eminent jurist and former Union Law Minister late Ram Jethmalani. Over the past two decades, Ranjan has built a substantial practice before the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts.
His practice encompasses a broad spectrum of litigation, including civil and criminal law, constitutional matters, service jurisprudence, land acquisition disputes, intellectual property rights, company law, taxation, works contracts and arbitration. His experience across diverse areas of law has involved both contentious and complex statutory and constitutional issues.
Ranjan has regularly appeared in matters before the Supreme Court. His association with Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd has been notable. He has represented the public sector undertaking in proceedings before the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. Delhi High Court records, including proceedings concerning Konkan Railway’s disputes with SMS Infrastructure Ltd, list Ranjan as counsel appearing for the corporation.
His involvement in the Konkan Railway litigation has also extended to arbitration-related disputes. In proceedings before the Delhi High Court concerning challenges arising out of contractual disputes involving the corporation, Ranjan appeared for Konkan Railway.
Ranjan has also served as counsel for the State of Uttarakhand before the Supreme Court. His professional engagements have consequently given him exposure to matters involving governmental litigation and public-law issues.
Keshav Ranjan hails from a family of academics. His father, the late Yadu Nandan Prasad, served as Principal of Constituent College, D.B.K.N. College, Narhan, Samastipur.
Apart from courtroom practice, Ranjan has maintained an interest in legal research and academic writing. He has authored legal articles dealing with contemporary issues of law and jurisprudence, with his writings appearing on established legal research and publishing platforms and journals.
He is also associated with the International Council of Jurists, London as a Distinguished Member
