The Supreme Court of India has issued a public advisory cautioning citizens and stakeholders against a fraudulent website that is allegedly impersonating the Court’s official online portal and could be used to obtain sensitive personal and financial information through phishing attempts.
In the advisory issued by the Supreme Court Registry, the fake domain “sp-court-in.com” was specifically identified as an unauthorised website attempting to present itself as being associated with the Supreme Court of India.
The Registry cautioned members of the public against sharing personal particulars, financial details, login credentials or other sensitive information through such websites or through electronic communications originating from suspicious sources.
The warning comes amid increasing instances of fraudulent online platforms adopting the identity, branding or appearance of legitimate institutions to deceive users. The Supreme Court said such impersonation could facilitate targeted phishing and expose unsuspecting users to the risk of data theft and financial fraud.
The Court further advised users to exercise caution while accessing electronic communications purportedly to have been issued by the Supreme Court. Stakeholders have been asked to independently verify the authenticity of website addresses before clicking on links or furnishing any information.
The Registry clarified that the Supreme Court’s official website operates under the “sci.gov.in” domain. Users have consequently been advised to scrutinise website URLs carefully and verify the domain before proceeding with any online interaction.
The latest advisory follows earlier public notices issued by the Supreme Court in July 2025 and April 2026, warning about deceptive websites created to resemble the Court’s official online presence.
The Supreme Court’s warning underscores the increasing need for vigilance against digital impersonation, particularly where fraudulent websites exploit the credibility of public institutions to induce users into disclosing confidential information.
The Registry has urged all concerned to remain alert and to verify the authenticity of online communications before accessing links or responding to requests for personal or financial information.
