The Delhi High Court on Thursday quashed 16 FIRs lodged against 70 Indian nationals for allegedly sheltering more than 190 foreign nationals, who participated in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation during the first wave of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
The single-judge Bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna ordered the police to quash the charge sheets against the accused.
A detailed order is awaited.
Total 70 Indians were booked under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Epidemic Diseases Act, the Disaster Management Act, and the Foreigners Act.
As per Delhi Police, the accused violated the nationwide lockdown and other prohibitory orders by housing foreign nationals during the pandemic.
