More Americans now appear to recognize that US President Donald Trump has engaged the USA in six wars at the same time, giving voters multiple issues to oppose. The Republicans’ slim majority control of Congress is at risk in the midterm election just 100 days away on November 3, 2026.
There is no doubt that if a Democrat-controlled House is elected, it will impeach Trump on multiple grounds including:
Iran War: In recent days the president has been especially bellicose on the Iran situation, annoyed also by the House of Representatives passing a resolution reminding him he needs to consult Congress regarding taking the nation to war. The Senate last month passed a similar resolution. However, Trump ignores Congress, ask if it was a bunch of unruly elderly citizens.
ICE: The war against immigrants continues despite Trump’s love for marrying immigrant women. This is MAGA racism with bad boys marauding in a cover story to create a national ‘gestapo’ police force, and divert attention way for the Epstein files.
Poor War: It targets low-income Americans because many oligarchs believe they are undeserving of benefits, especially the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and medical insurance.
Tariff War: It’s been suddenly reapplied to 80 nations with a super focus on Canada.
War on Inflation: This is all talk and no action because Republicans are in the grasp of big business and people who make enough money to not worry.
War for Election Control: It represents a presidential daydream about federal supremacy, not the Constitution’s choice of states for elections.
Trump’s polling suggests his core support is less than 40%. Primary election results indicate many incumbent Republican candidates are in serious trouble. This year, the states combined will provide about 175,000 voting precincts expecting fewer voters because the presidency is on the ballot in 2028. With no presidency on the ballot, it will be lower but still trained and paid volunteers join permanent staff, with an estimated total of 700,000 working on voting day.
In my years of experience as an election precinct judge, teams of four people work carefully and graciously to operate a voting precinct which might handle several hundred voters in a 14-hour day. We account for every ballot and keep duplicate lists which must match. Trump’s “Save America Act” legislation would force the federal government more deeply into state election regulations. It is just fear mongering, ludicrous because Trump has just sidelined two government agencies specifically delegated to assist states on national elections.
Affordability is a major issue for most voters shocked by comparing their income versus the cost of food, fuel, utilities and everything it takes to keep a family alive. Because food and fuel are weekly experiences, it simplifies recognizing price increases. On the other hand, I’ve just compared my lifestyle raising a family of five 50 years ago with what my family of three costs today. Wages never track costs in a meaningful way unless one changes jobs. The volatility of costs is true at every level of society, only the ability to pay them varies.
The Republican budget reconciliation law enacted in July 2025 has reduced SNAP participation by more than 4.5 million people with impact in every state except Alaska. If the intent was to starve low income people to death then it is a success, but it has done nothing to reduce hunger and poverty in America. Data from the 19 states that make it available indicates that at least one million children stopped receiving nutrition, so for 50 states, then probably six million children have lost benefits. SNAP falls under Agriculture Secretary Ms. Brooke Rollins who celebrates the cuts, claiming the program is rife with fraud. Like other Republicans, she cites federal error rates. But error rates usually reflect mistakes in classification numbers by caseworkers, not fraudulent use of services.
The Trump Administration also shifted significant costs to the states, while expanding work requirements for adults which are both punitive and generally ineffective. There is arrogance and disdain for American values constantly expressed by Trump and his appointees. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided an undignified and abrasive response testifying before Congress that the cost of the Iran war at around $35 billion, which certainly does not including baseline military costs involved. Republicans on the committee were meek. Democrats asked serious questions which Hegseth ignored with stock irrelevant answers about his leadership. Iran’s asymmetrical response to US attacks has been to expand drones and missiles fired at US bases located in neighboring Middle East nations allied with America.
Additional Congressional committee appearances by two key Trump appointees—Todd Blanche for Justice and Jay Conley for Intelligence — featured evasive, disrespectful performances. Equally alarming was the meekness of Republican senators on the panel. Clearly, the Republicans today believe there is just the Executive branch with Congress and the Supreme Court mere twigs that blow in the direction of the big branch.
This brazen abandonment of the US Constitution is summed up by political commentator Lucian Truscott, who asked: “Am I hallucinating? Are Republicans doing the same stuff they did with Iraq over again with Iran? Borrowing money for a useless war as they turn it into a quagmire at the same time they pass tax cuts for the wealthy on the backs of the middle class and the poor?”
A measure of the Trump Administration’s concern about keeping a Congressional majority to protect Trump from another impeachment is the return appearance of a 1950s’ smear campaign: Calling all your opponents Communists. This tactic was employed by Roy Cohn and Sen. Joe McCarthy in the playbook of that era and left them both disgraced.
