The Supreme Court on Monday launched the ‘One Case, One Data’ system, a digital initiative aimed at strengthening judicial case management through integrated access to case-related data across courts and government departments throughout the country.
Launching the initiative, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said that the new case management system would, for the first time, enable seamless integration of judicial records and case data between the Supreme Court, High Courts, district courts and even Taluka courts, along with relevant government departments, through a unified digital framework.
Terming it a landmark move for judicial transparency, the CJI said the initiative was intended to modernise the judicial administration system by creating a multi-level digital integration mechanism linking court databases at every tier of the justice delivery system. He observed that the platform would allow the Supreme Court to access complete case-related information originating from subordinate courts, while reciprocal connectivity and data access would also be available to lower courts and relevant government departments.
The new module would automate the retrieval of judicial records from different court databases and facilitate real-time online verification of case-related information, noted the CJI, adding that the integrated system would improve data integrity, enhance accuracy in judicial records, reduce procedural delays and strengthen transparency within the judicial ecosystem.
In addition to the integrated data system, the Supreme Court also launched an AI-powered chatbot named ‘Su-Sahay’. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Supreme Court Registry, the chatbot is designed to assist litigants, lawyers, citizens and other stakeholders in accessing case-related information and navigating e-services available on the Supreme Court website.
According to the Court, the chatbot would provide a simplified and user-friendly mechanism for obtaining prompt guidance relating to judicial services, case status and digital court procedures. The initiative formed part of the broader judicial digitisation and e-governance framework being implemented within the Indian justice delivery system.
Acknowledging the contribution of Registry officials and technical teams involved in developing the digital infrastructure, the CJI expressed confidence that the new digital initiatives would greatly benefit litigants, lawyers, judges, and the wider judicial administration system.
